AUM CHANTING AT CEREBROSPINAL CHAKRAS

PRAYER

O Eternal and Infinite Cosmos may the magic wand of my meditation touch all sounds and melt them into the One Cosmic Sound of Aum.

IMPORTANCE OF AUM

“And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps” (Revelation 14:2, Bible).

SWIMMING MEDITATION

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Swimming is fun for those who can barely swim, and one of the safest forms of exercising for those who can reasonably swim – irrespective of age and fitness level. Some serious fitness enthusiasts effectively use swimming for stretching and cool down after grueling weight training session.

Mystics muse and wonder:

Is swimming hitherto unexplored alternative healing therapy? Does swimming really heal anxiety, stress, high blood pressure, sores, aches and pains? Can swimming be evolved into meditative exercise for mind control and spiritual ascension?

HEALING THERAPY

High blood pressure, stress, anxiety, nervousness, depression, sleep disorders are bane of the Generation Y. These disorders more often than not lead to loss of vitality and potency that can shatter hard earned self esteem and confidence. For a high intensity aerobic or anaerobic workout, one needs to have a relatively calm mental disposition – for those who are emotionally or psychologically stressed out, it’s best to choose between low-moderate intensity workouts.

Ode to the West Wind

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

by P.B.Shelley

O WILD West Wind, thou breath of Autumn’s being

Thou from whose unseen presence the leaves dead

Are driven, like ghosts from an enchanter fleeing,

Yellow, and black, and pale, and hectic red,

Pestilence-stricken multitudes!—O thou

Who chariotest to their dark wintry bed

The wingèd seeds, where they lie cold and low,

Each like a corpse within its grave, until

Thine azure sister of the Spring shall blow

Her clarion o’er the dreaming earth, and fill

(Driving sweet buds like flocks to feed in air)

With living hues and odours plain and hill

Wild Spirit, which art moving everywhere

Destroyer and Preserver—hear, O hear!

Directed Visualization

by Dean Ornish

Your mind may think in words, but your body responds to images as though they were really happening right now. Try it and see.

For example, if you remember an argument that you had with a friend yesterday, your body reacts today as though you were still fighting. Close your eyes and remember the last time you argued with a close friend or loved one; and pay attention to what happens in your body. You may notice that your breathing has become more rapid and shallow, your muscles have tightened, and your heart is breathing faster, and you feel anxious or disturbed.

By KAREN BARROWPopcorn

Tony Cenicola/The New York Times Movie popcorn contained an alarming amount of fat, salt and calories.
Sitting in a dark movie theater with your friends and a tub of buttery popcorn sounds like a perfect way to spend a Saturday night – and it could be, if you are willing to share your popcorn with the entire row of moviegoers around you.

A review of the nutritional contents of movie-theater popcorn reveals an alarming amount of fat, salt and calories in even the smallest sizes. The study, from the Center for Science in the Public Interest, looked at popcorn from three movie theater chains and detailed the contents of all portions offered. (more…)

Applied Logotherapy for anxiety & phobias

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

By Viktor E. Frankl M.D., Ph.D.

Logotherapy, in comparison with psychoanalysis, is a method less retrospective and less introspective. Logotherapy Logo Therapyfocuses on the future, that is to say, on the meanings to be fulfilled by the person. (Logotherapy, indeed, is a meaning-centered psychotherapy).

Logos is a Greek word which denotes “meaning”. Logotherapy focuses on the meaning of human existence as well as on man’s search for such a meaning. According to logotherapy, this striving to find a meaning in one’s life is the primary motivational force in man. That is why I speak of a will to meaning in contrast to the pleasure principle (or, as we could also term it, the will to pleasure) on which Freudian psychoanalysis is centered.
